At a glance
- Client: Plastic Processing Limited, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
- What they do: plastic injection moulding.
- What we built: a production system that holds each order once and produces the kit list, delivery note, control plan and order acknowledgement from it, followed by sales dashboards and order documents for the directors.
- When: on site 4 June 2026, kick-off 17 June, live 4 August 2026. Seven weeks.
- Result: about three hours a day of hand-built paperwork removed. Mel, who runs the office, no longer builds any of those documents by hand.
The problem
Every job through the moulding shop needed its own paperwork: a kit list for the shop floor, a control plan, a delivery note, an order acknowledgement for the customer. Each one was built by hand from the same order details, typed again at every step. A change to an order meant finding every sheet it had touched and changing each of them, and hoping none had been missed.
The directors put the cost at about three hours of every working day, most of it Mel's, who runs the office.
What we built
We spent a morning on site in June walking one order from enquiry to dispatch. Then we built a system that holds the order once and produces every document from it: the kit list, the delivery note, the control plan and the order acknowledgement, each from the same record, each updated the moment the order changes.
It went live on 4 August 2026, seven weeks after kick-off and within a week of the date we promised. Later that month we added sales dashboards and order documents so the directors can see the week's orders without asking anyone.
What changed
The three hours a day of hand-built paperwork are gone. Mel now checks documents rather than building them, and a change to an order is a change in one place. Since September 2026 Plastic Processing have worked with us on an ongoing basis, with more of the office's paperwork on the roadmap.
